Baboo wisdom

Hey,

Something I've been thinking about...

I'll always remember my grandmother "Baboo" saying, "I'm willing to help anyone who's willing to help themselves." And she meant it. She was one of the most generous people I've ever known, but she was NOT an enabler. How'd she know?? 😊

She wasn't judgy or preachy, she just had clear boundaries with her time, energy and resources and she honored it. In her wisdom, I always knew I had support, but more importantly, that I had a choice about my own life. And she always gave room for error - she just didn't give chance after chance when she saw a pattern. Instead, she'd just love you and let you figure it out on your own.

I'm grateful that's how she showed up for me, because I've carried that philosophy with MY children and grandchildren, as well as my own life (albeit I've done a lot of do-overs πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ), and with my clients and community. And I LOVE the people I get to work with because of it. When they know something's off and they're ready to do something about it, they show up for themselves. They just need someone who knows how to help them get there. That's me! πŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ

I've been thinking about that a lot and it's inspired me to do something a little different this month, to support YOU. If you want to know more, drop me a YES reply and I'll fill you in Thurs.

With love, Kate πŸ’—

Hey Reader, Ok, I promised to follow up about boundaries. Yes, they were part of the situation with the rude woman, but they're not what you might think. We tend to think in order to have healthy boundaries we need to draw hard lines in the sand - make it clear what we will and will NOT tolerate. Give someone who crosses them a big ole' WHAT FOR, but those aren't really boundaries. Those are just words. In fact, if you have clear, solid boundaries, you don't HAVE to do that, because here's...

Hey friends, I want to follow up on last week's email about the woman who was rude. First, thank you for caring about me and sending so many kind words of encouragement. I'm good - really! It happened several years ago and I'm actually grateful for it - it was important in my healing. Consciously choosing to go back as ME rather than that 6 year old girl shifted everything. That's why I shared the story. You'd be amazed how many times our child self is on the scene - scared, overwhelmed,...

Hey, You know those people in your life who really stretch you - the ones you can't please, no matter what you do? I do. There's one I've known my whole life. I love her and I know she has a good heart, but I've witnessed how she treats people she doesn't like. Sadly, that's usually how she shows up with me. I walked on eggshells with her for a long time, always wondering what I did wrong, but that shifted a few years ago. Here's what happened: She was blatantly rude to me one particular day,...
