Soul Notes: Stuck in September

Hi Reader,

And helloooo September! I love this month - it’s like a long exhale between summer chaos and holiday hustle (which we all know starts Oct 1 😉). I love both ends of the spectrum, but this in-between feels like sacred space.

For me, it’s always a time of reflection: What have I created this year? What’s still on my board? Do I want to pivot? Let something go? Pause?

The most important part is listening rather than forcing - allowing instead of demanding - because when I push myself to do what my head says I “should”, it never lands right. Do you ever feel that tug-of-war between your head and your heart?

I was riding that struggle bus this week, staring at a blank page, trying to get these Soul Notes written “on time.” My head was yelling: “You need this out by Sept 1st!” My heart whispered: “Shhh. Don’t push. Just listen. You’re right on time.”

I know which one is Truth - which feels calm in my body and resonates with my energy - and when I finally dropped into that heart-soul space, it came through so clearly: “Write what’s real, right now.”

And here we are - September 4th, and I’m writing about that.

And guess what? The sun still came up today 😎, and I don’t imagine you’re thinking, “Excuse me, you’re LATE, Missy!” Which tells me maybe the real stress isn’t about deadlines at all, but about what I make it mean about me if I’m not perfect, on time, or “enough.” (hello, old patterns).

Maybe you know that feeling too. Maybe you’ve been stuck in that same tug-of-war, and hearing this helps you feel less alone - and definitely not crazy. And maybe that’s why I needed to write this today. That's what happens when I listen.

If you do, here’s the practice that never fails me - I call it my A.L.T.A.R. Practice:

  • Ask for guidance.
  • Listen for the answer.
  • TRUST what you hear.
  • Act on it.
  • Repeat

It's like magic when I'm stuck in the "shoulds". You can download the full version here if you don’t already have it.

So there you have it - my “stuck in September.” If you’ve read this far, thank you for indulging me. 😊

I hope this month brings you exactly what you need, wherever it takes you.

So much love, ❤️

Hi Reader, welcome to November Soul Notes! This might be my favorite month! I always loved Thanksgiving growing up - I think because it was literally the ONLY day of the year that our whole family of 7 sat down and ate a meal together. 😊 Seriously - it was a big deal. That BIG-ass turkey was indeed the focal point of the meal, but all of us together was it for me. As an adult, it's long-since been a month I've dedicated to Gratitude vs the traditional story, so every year I host a sacred "30...

Hey Reader, When was the last time you said, “I don’t have time to…” or “I can’t afford to…”?If you’re like most of us, probably within the last 24 hours - or 24 minutes. 🙄 “I don’t have enough…” is a common component of feeling stuck, whether it's personal, professional, emotional, financial, relational, or spiritual. Beneath every version of that statement lives one sneaky, universal belief: lack. Not enough knowledge. Not enough experience. Not enough time, money, confidence, energy, love,...
